Natalie sang her little heart out for The Laundrettes’ acoustic set (it had to be sans elecrticity, they were outside, miles away from any plug socket plus it was raining) last night and didn’t she do well? Oh – I’m supposed to be telling you that, right?
Even though the evening was damp, spirits were not and The Laundrettes put on a splendid show with inspired classics such as:
Santa Baby
Help!
Silent Night
Let It Be
Jingle Bells
O Holy Night
I Saw Her Standing There
Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
All this whilst wearing bright red lippy, shaking a tambourine, supping mulled wine and raising money for St John Ambulance. Natalie almost needed to call in the aforementioned charidee when she sliced the underside of her arm with her jingle-bell bracelet, but bravely carried on with the show. She was not amused, however by the Amy Winehouse comparisons that her slashed wrist provoked.

We’re a talented bunch at Ruby Red. Not only are we great at making gorgeously organic bath and body stuff with our own fair hands, but there’s a few (wannabe) singers amongst us too. Martine’s sister-in-law, Sara, did a turn for charidee most recently, and tonight it’s the turn of Ruby Red’s very own PR & Marketing whizz kid, Natalie, performing under the guise of The Laundrettes for St Juhn Ambulance tonight.
The Laundrettes will be doing an acoustic set of golden oldies and festive favourites (and no doubt drinking copious amounts of the mulled wine that’ll be on offer…..) We’ll give you the review tomorrow.

Ruby Red had a great time rocking out at the Bounds Green Bowls Club on Saturday night! We were there to support Martine’s sis-in-law, Sara Munds who sang with a live band and was simply a-mazing:

The crowd raised the roof and also raised a fabulous £650 for the North London Hospice in the process. The Hospice provides a range of specialist services for those living with a terminal illness in the Borough of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey. A registered charity, the Hospice relies heavily on donations – all its services are provided free of charge – so that money makes a real difference.

The season of good cheer isn’t all about eating pickled walnuts and playing in the snow, oh no. It’s also about getting ill and having to take a few days off work. Poor old Natalie has been ill for a couple of weeks with a disgustingly bad viral infection. Every time she thinks she’s on the mend, she gets a bit worse again, and so has to stay at home for a day or two. We hope she feels better soon.

We caught up with Diane Biggs from Goodbodies….
What does Goodbodies offer the customer?
We offer a chic boutique shopping experience. With high ceilings and large windows, Goodbodies is a pretty, light and welcoming shop. Decorated with natural clay paint, furnished with bespoke shaker style furniture and packed with loads of interesting goodies, it is very inviting to browse.
How did your business begin?
I trained as a Medical Technologist and moved to South Africa from England 30 years ago. I originally made my own body care products using local plant oils to formulate creams for specific ailments – my remedy for healing sun damaged hands proved very popular with golfers! I sold my Goodbodies products at markets but it wasn’t until I moved back to England two years ago I was able open Goodbodies the shop, making many friends and regular clients along the way.
Do you have a typical customer?
My customers cover a wide age range and all walks of life. I find that many of the older ladies relate to me and are comfortable chatting about their problems – especially undoing skin damage caused over the years. I also enjoy encouraging the younger generation into using pure natural ingredients to preserve their beautiful young skins.
When did you first discover Ruby Red?
I discovered Ruby Red at the Natural and Organics Trade Show at Olympia in April this year. The stylish and simplistic packaging caught my eye and Martine and Mike are such delightful people, I felt I knew them well instantly. I could not believe how soft the shea butter was to use. Ruby Red products are fresh, innovative and effective – simplicity at its absolute best.
What’s next for your business?
We are going to offer beauty treatments – therapies, facials and massages – as we have a fabulous young therapist called Lisa who now works for us part time. And of course we could open another store ……

Tis Hallow’s Eve, where the local kids wander the streets in search of sweeties and chocolate or if you live near us, hard cash, credit cards and ipods. Keep your body looking gorgeously BOO-tiful by going online and buying yourself an organic skin care TREAT from our LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS. We’d be FRIGHTfully greatful.
OK, enough spooky jokes already.

It’s a bit parky out, isn’t it? The weather has hit us hard here at Ruby Red HQ. Martine’s bicycle has frozen (she left it outside), some of our plants have wilted, the path to the workshop is a bit slippery and the central heating is turned up to the max. But we’ll battle through it somehow.
It’s definitely time to indulge in our Limited Edition Organic Winter Bath Soak. With fruity, spicy organic essential oils (cinnamon, vanilla, sweet orange and clove), it smells a bit like mulled wine, except you can walk in a straight line and see how many fingers I’m holding up after you’ve bathed in it. Delicious!
